Engagement and Community Management

See the Community Management page for general instructions on engaging with posts. Sprinklr enables responding to inbound YouTube comments from Engagement dashboards. See below for some platform-specific features with regard to community management.

Engagement Capabilities

The following actions may appear in the engagement menu on a message in the engagement dashboard:

  • Comment
  • Update Playlists
  • Get Embed Code
  • Like
  • Dislike
  • Favorite
  • Archive

Double click on the message to open it in the Third Pane view — a sidebar overlay. Doing so will allow users to view the following analytics:

  • Views
  • Likes
  • Dislikes
  • Comments

Opening the message in the Third Pane view allows users to access the profile information for the message author. This information includes:

  • Message sender’s profile — including photo, profile information, properties and comments
  • Conversations — messages between this user and MSU-related accounts connected to Sprinklr
  • Recent updates — posts by this account
  • Follow/unfollow
  • Audit trail — changes made to the profile record in Sprinklr

A comment can be deleted using the engagement options.

Note: Michigan State University is a public university and are subject to the First Amendment guarantee of free speech. Only delete comments when they break the standards of behavior outlined in the MSU Community Guidelines

Copyright Infringement

If a unit learns of a YouTube video infringing on the unit’s copyright (such as using a recording of a class lecture and presenting it as their own), a user can report it. University Communications and Marketing has experience dealing with the legal side of copyright issues through efforts to protect the MSU brand. If a unit need assistance or have questions on this topic, please contact University Communications and Marketing at SpartanCreative@msu.edu.

Publishing to YouTube

See the Social Publishing page for general instructions on creating and publishing posts. The information below contains additional details relevant specifically to YouTube content. Users also can review the Sprinklr Knowledge Portal articles indexed at “Publishing to YouTube” for additional information.

Uploading YouTube Videos

There are a few additional features and details to note when uploading a YouTube video using the Create Post panel. Users also can review the Sprinklr Knowledge Portal article “Publish a Post on YouTube” for additional information.

Title — Enter the title for the video, up to 100 characters. If this field is left blank the video will be titled with the file name.

Description — Enter a description for the video, up to 5,000 characters. If this field is left blank the video description will be populated with the file name. This is a good place to make the most of search engine optimization.

Click the Emoji Picker icon to insert an emoji in the description.

Select a privacy level from the drop-down list. Users can set the video privacy settings as default by clicking “Set as Default,” which will make this setting the standard for all videos on the selected YouTube account.

Select a license type for the video from the drop-down menu.

Enter tags for the video to help viewers find the video through search.

Select the appropriate category for the video. This helps viewers find content and can be used by advertisers for targeting.

Select a playlist, if necessary. The Sprinklr user will need authorization to access the playlist in addition to the account to use this feature. Select the position where the video should appear in the playlist.

After selecting a video file in the Create Post panel, hover over the thumbnail and click the Change Thumbnail icon in the bottom right corner. In the Media Uploader window, select the Prominent Frame for the video. Click “Use this frame” in the bottom right corner of the Media Uploader window.

Check the boxes to notify subscribers, embed video for auto-play in sites and identify if the video is made for kids, as appropriate.

Updating Videos

After publishing a YouTube video, users can update all the fields but can’t replace the video file. Users can make changes to the existing published video.

Video Captions

It is a best practice to add a caption file to the video. This allows those who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as those who watch a video with no audio, to consume the unit’s message.

Note: To ensure all institutional account content is as accessible as possible, the accounts controlled by University Communications and Marketing will not share any content containing images that do not include proper captions.
  1. Select the video in the Create Post panel.
  2. Hover over the video thumbnail and click on the Add Caption icon on the lower left corner of the thumbnail.
  3. Click “Add New Language” and search for the desired language in the menu.
  4. Upload a caption file. Supported file formats include SRT, SCC, SUV, SBV, SUB, LRC, MBSVP, CAP, RT, VTT, TTML and DFXP.
  5. Maintain the character count of 109 characters for each group of the subtitles.
  6. Click “Add” alongside the desired language to upload the subtitles for the video.
  7. Click “Save” in the bottom right corner of the Add Video Captions pop-up window.
