Sitecore Training

As an enterprise content management system, Sitecore is a powerful tool. University Communications and Marketing has developed a training program for Sitecore users to help them make the most of the platform. The training session, combined with the resources available on this website, should help users achieve their website creation and maintenance goals.

What to Expect

Basic training is a live instructor-led virtual session presented via Teams. Attendees are introduced to Sitecore’s basic concepts. Training is generic, not site-specific.

Attendance at a basic training session is required before a user can access and work on a website in Sitecore. Site owners must also approve access requests for new users.

Who Should Attend

Training is intended for anyone who develops, edits, reviews or publishes content using either the Sitecore XP or Sitecore XM Cloud content management systems. Training is required for system access, even if website maintenance is not a primary job responsibility.

Training Tracks

University Communications and Marketing is currently running three training tracks:

  • New Sitecore XP users – This track is for users who need to maintain a website in Sitecore XP that has not been migrated to Sitecore XM Cloud. This track is winding down as migration work completes. No new sites are being added in Sitecore XP. Once all websites have migrated, this training track will discontinue.
  • Sitecore XP to Sitecore XM Cloud migrating users – This track is for users with previous Sitecore XP experience who are managing a website that has been migrated to Sitecore XM Cloud. Users will receive training in XM Cloud to review and approve the migrated site for launch. Once all websites have been migrated, this training track will discontinue.
  • New Sitecore XM Cloud users – This track is for users with no prior Sitecore XP experience who are building a new website in Sitecore XM Cloud or who will be maintaining a website in XM Cloud.

Prerequisites

No prior knowledge of Sitecore, content management systems or HTML/CSS coding is required.

XP Training

There is no advance work required for Sitecore XP training.

XM Cloud Training

Sitecore XM Cloud trainees will be required to watch a brief introductory training video and to activate their user account prior to training. Information regarding these tasks will be sent via email after training registration is complete.
