MSUToday Listing Pages

There are three types of news listing pages on MSUToday:

  • News (View All)
  • Topic
  • Releases and Statements

Some of these listing pages are automatically curated, while others rely on input from content authors. See below for information on what is, or can be, included in each listing page.

News (View All)

The News (View All) page is available via the navigation menu. The eyebrow tag on story cards displays the primary level one (i.e., main navigation level) topic assigned by the content author as part of the taxonomy review.

The News page shows all content matching the following content sub-types:

  • News Release
  • Ask The Expert
  • Campus Story
  • Features
  • All Voices and Views
  • Podcasts
  • Photo Gallery

Statements, media advisories and expert advisories will never appear in the News listing page and will never appear as related or latest stories.

Topic

Topic pages are filtered listings of the View All listing page, displaying only stories tagged to a level two topic (i.e., sub-topic) associated with the level one (i.e., main navigation level) topic for the page. For example, the “Arts and Culture” topic page includes stories tagged “Design,” “Film and Television,” “Fine Arts,” “Literature” or “Performing Arts.” The eyebrow tag on story cards displays the level two topic assigned by the content author as part of the taxonomy review.

If multiple level two topics are assigned and relevant to the level one topic, the eyebrow will reflect the primary level two topic. For example, if the story is tagged “Literature” as the primary topic and “Design” as the secondary topic, the eyebrow will read “Literature” when viewed on the “Arts and Culture” topic page. The eyebrow will read “Arts and Culture” when viewed on the “View All” page.

Each Topic page shows all content tagged to relevant topics and matching the following content sub-types:

  • News Release
  • Ask The Expert
  • Campus Story
  • Features
  • All Voices and Views
  • Podcasts
  • Photo Gallery

Statements, media advisories and expert advisories will never appear in a Topic listing page and will never appear as related or latest stories.

Releases and Statements

The Releases and Statements page is a specialized news listing page on MSUToday displaying a curated list of story pages. Curation depends on the content sub-type or a manual selection by the content author.

The following content sub-types automatically appear on the Releases and Statements page without any action from the content author:

  • News Release
  • Statements
  • Media Advisories
  • Expert Advisories
  • Ask The Expert

For the following content sub-types, the content author may choose to add the story to the Releases and Statements page by selecting the box for Show on News Release page under Details on the content detail page:

  • Campus Story
  • Features
  • Voices and Views (all versions)
  • Podcasts
  • Photo Gallery
