Account groups are used to group related accounts. These can be by unit, sub-unit or other classification. University Communications and Marketing typically puts each account into two account groups, corresponding to Tier Tags. Depending on unit needs, additional account groups may be added, such as for brands or programs. Access to account groups is limited to staff with access to the affiliated accounts.
Account groups can be used to filter dashboards, reports and the editorial calendar. Simply select “Account Group” as the filter type and the appropriate account group(s) to display the data for the proper group(s). This allows a user to see aggregate post data for all accounts in the selected account group.
Users will generally want to avoid selecting an account group when in the Create Post panel. Publishing to the group prevents a user from editing the post content on a channel-by-channel basis. Creating channel-specific content is a best practice.
An account group can be selected when the user does want to post an exact replica of a message to each account in the account group. All posts will have the same text, asset(s), link(s) and/or custom field labels if this method is used.
