Create a Page

Pages can be added using several tools in SitecoreAI. The simplest way to add and edit a page is to use the Page Builder tool.

When adding a page, users will need to select from a Page Layout template. Review the template options instructions for adding pages to a website below.

Best Practices:

Take care when duplicating or adding pages for experimenting in Sitecore. Make sure any pages that are not intended to be publicly viewable are made unpublishable and are hidden from navigation and search engines.
When modifying an existing page but not ready to publish, consider using page versioning. Lock the page to ensure no one else makes changes.
If replacing an existing page on a website, delete the old page or make it unpublishable. Set up redirects, if needed.

Select the appropriate website from the drop-down on the Global Toolbar.
On the Local Toolbar, confirm Editor menu is selected.
In the Left-hand Pane, confirm Site tree tab is selected.
Select the parent page or folder where a new page will be created.
Click the + Create option at the top of the Site tree. Alternatively, select the ellipses (…) next to the parent page name and select Create item.
Select the type of page from the page templates menu and click Select. Page templates available may vary by site and page location. Examples include:
1. Page
2. Two Thirds Page
3. Landing Page with Full Footer
4. Landing Page with Legal Footer
Locate the New page in the Site tree. Click the ellipses (…) to the right of the page and select Settings. (Note: Users may need to click out of the New page name in order for the ellipses to become clickable.)
Enter Item name. This will be the page URL. Use lowercase text, use hyphens to separate words and do not use spaces or special characters.
Enter Display name. This will display in some areas of the site, such as in Breadcrumb components and on the Site Map page. This name can use mixed-case text, special characters and spaces. Click Save.
Return to the editing canvas. Add components and content. See component documentation for specific information.
Publish the webpage(s).

After a page has been added to the website, it can be renamed and customized using the prebuilt components. The components serve as the building blocks of a page and are used to hold various types of content. It is recommended that pages be customized in the Page Builder app.

Changing a Page Title will impact the displayed page name in navigation and breadcrumb components. If the page was previously published and the Item Name is changed, users should consider adding a redirect for the link so visitors can find the page using bookmarks or links included in documents. Users can also separately change the Display Name used for internal system display.

In the Content Tree, expand Content, expand MSU, expand the relevant website and navigate to the parent page where the new page should be placed.
Click the page name to select the page.
Right click the page name to open the flyout menu.
Click Insert.
Click the desired page template.
Enter the page name and click OK. This will be the Item name and the page URL. Use lowercase text, use hyphens to separate words and do not use spaces or special characters.
In the Content menu panel, edit the Title, which is the display title, if desired. Users can also edit the Browser Title, if necessary.
