Rich Text components are used to add blocks of text to pages. They’re also often placed within other components, such as a Tab, to contain text. Text can be formatted using a What You See Is What You Get, or WYSIWYG, editing toolbar.

Accessibility Considerations
- While components are designed to meet MSU’s accessibility standards, it is up to content authors to ensure content entered into the system also meets standards. Users should add alt text to any images and use proper subheading and list formats to support positive screen reader-assisted experiences. Use a Table component instead of an in-line table within a Rich Text component.
- Edit HTML to add anchor links where a component Page Anchor ID is unavailable.
- Strip formatting when pasting from other applications to avoid errant code, which can cause issues on the web page.
- If copying text from an email, check any hyperlinks to ensure they go directly to the desired page and are not routing through an email server. Email links can expire and will break.
The WYSIWYG editing toolbar enables the following actions:
- Select the component, as opposed to the text area within the component. Use this to move or remove the component itself.
- Apply text formatting, including Bold, Italics and Underline.
- Format text as a Block Quote. This styling is different than the Block Quote component.
- Open a menu of additional text formatting options, including strikethrough, subscript and superscript, or remove text formatting.
- Change font color.
- Change font background color.
- Apply paragraph or header formatting.
- Apply text alignment.
- Apply list formatting. Adjust settings using the dropdown arrow next to the formatting type.
- Outdent text.
- Indent text.
- Add an external link. Use this option when linking to a website outside of Sitecore.
- Add an internal link. Use this option when linking to a page within the same website or on another website hosted in MSU's Sitecore system.
- Insert a phone number link (enables calling from computer when clicked).
- Insert additional items, including media, a table or horizontal line.
- Edit HTML.
- Clear all contents from the component.
