Legal Footer

The Legal Footer is an MSU-branded component that displays at the bottom of every page. It contains MSU’s legal information, such as copyright and Notice of Nondiscrimination. This is a global-use component shared by all Sitecore sites and cannot be changed by site owners.

Benefits

  • Display MSU legal information on every page.
  • Content here is controlled by Sitecore administrators to ensure all websites are in compliance with specific policies and regulations.

Component Options and Limitations

  • The Legal Footer component is included in page templates. Content authors do not need to take any action to add Legal Footer to pages.

Guidelines

  • The Legal Footer does not appear in the site’s content tree. It uses content stored in a global shared folder.
  • The Legal Footer contains the MSU wordmark logo and link to the main MSU website. This content cannot be modified by content authors.
  • A content author cannot modify or delete the Legal Footer or any of its content.
  • A content author cannot move the Legal Footer to another place on the page.
  • The Legal Footer component displays at the bottom of every page, directly below the Footer component. Legal Footer is the last content on the page.
  • Legal Footer displays the MSU wordmark image and three rows of content:
    • Row 1 — Page links to Contact Information and Site Map pages, as well as Privacy and Site Accessibility Statements residing in the main MSU website
    • Row 2 — MSU’s main telephone number, Visit MSU link and Notice of Nondiscrimination link
    • Row 3 — “Spartans Will.” tagline and copyright
  • The Legal Footer displays black text over a white background.

These items use global shared content that cannot be modified by content authors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to I request changes to the Legal Footer?

Contact the University Communications and Marketing platforms group (Comms.WebSupport@msu.edu). The team will evaluate the request and determine if it should be done. Since the Legal Footer is shared by all Sitecore sites, great care is taken when changing this information. Changes must also comply with MSU branding and web standards.

Instructions for Use

The Legal Footer cannot be modified by content authors. If a unit requires changes, contact the University Communications  and Marketing platforms group.
