Summary

This release focuses on accessibility improvements, workflow consistency, component publishing reliability and layout refinements across the platform. Updates include significant improvements to the Carousel component, expanded workflow coverage for key page types and components, and multiple fixes affecting content display, navigation and publishing behavior.

This release will be pushed to production after 8:00pm on Tuesday, Apr. 7.

New Features

  • Expanded Workflow Coverage
    • Added workflow support for additional content types and components, including People Detail Pages, Program Detail Pages, Story Pages and the Slate Form component.
    • These updates improve publishing consistency and ensure content changes follow the standard workflow process.
  • Mobile Header Enhancements
    • Added support for displaying the site name in mobile mode for image-based headers. 

Enhancements

  • Carousel Accessibility Improvements
    • Improved accessibility support for the Carousel component, including image controls, alternative text handling, caption associations and overall layout behavior.
    • Updated arrow positioning to improve compatibility with two-thirds layouts and contextual navigation.
  • Header & Navigation Improvements
    • Improved landing page header display and corrected right-aligned menu hover behavior.
  • Content Display Improvements
    • Improved display handling for Areas of Expertise and short description content across supported page types. 

Bug Fixes (Platform)

  • Accessibility & UI Improvements
    • Fixed issues where Carousel images could be missing expand and shrink controls.
    • Corrected missing or incomplete alternative text behavior in Carousel images and linked content.
    • Fixed figure and figcaption associations to ensure image captions are correctly tied to their related images.
    • Corrected heading structure issues in Program Cards.
    • Fixed an issue causing empty H1 tags to appear on error pages.
  • Workflow & Publishing Improvements
    • Fixed workflow issues affecting Program Detail Pages.
    • Fixed workflow issues affecting Story Pages.
    • Added workflow coverage for People Detail Pages.
    • Added workflow coverage for the Slate Form component.
    • Improved publishing reliability for image components used in MSUToday custom stories.
  • Navigation & Layout
    • Fixed an issue where the Carousel right arrow could overlap contextual navigation in two-thirds layouts on desktop.
    • Corrected landing page header layout issues.
    • Fixed right-aligned menu hover behavior.
  • Content & Media
    • Fixed an issue where PDFs on the Graduate School site were not loading correctly.
    • Fixed display issues affecting the Area of Expertise section.
    • Corrected missing short descriptions in supported content areas.

  • MSUToday
    • Fixed an issue where image components in custom stories could fail to publish correctly.
  • Graduate School
    • Fixed an issue preventing PDFs from loading on the bulletin page.
