Sitecore XP Migration Completion

By: Katie Kelly, Bobbie Roberts

University Communications and Marketing and MSU IT are happy to announce the completion of the Sitecore XP to Sitecore XM Cloud migration project. The final migrated site launched on Thursday, Sept. 18.

This was an extensive project with work spanning 19 months that involved staff from UCAM, MSU IT and dozens of departments across campus, as well as additional technical support from Sitecore and MSU’s development partner agency, RDA. Work started with establishing the foundations of the new XM Cloud environments, progressed through development of all components and templates that serve as the basis for each web page and website, and then moved into a migration phase wherein each website from Sitecore XP that elected to migrate to XM Cloud was completely rebuilt using the new XM Cloud components.

Over 100 Websites in XM Cloud

Since the project commenced, MSU has migrated 73 websites from Sitecore XP to Sitecore XM Cloud. At the same time, 38 new websites were created directly in Sitecore XM Cloud, for a total of 111 websites in the system.
